Water is pumped in at ~ 2-3k gal/hr, and is gravity-fed back to the pond. The filter is essentially a large tub filled with pastic forks, for biological media. It has water hyacinth floating on top. Above the filter is a a basket with polyster floss for additional mechanical filtration.
